Is Disney World or Disney Cruise worth the extra money?

I'm planning for my family to do the Disney World 7 days land and sea vacation. The price is more than other vacations, so is it worth it? My fiancee and I are taking our kids in Nov. 2008

ages 17, 14, 9, 8, and 2. With the variety of ages and different attractions for each age group, would it be more stress than fun? Thanks for your positive input in advance. Is Disney World or Disney Cruise worth the extra money?
A cruise is the best vacation I have ever taken.. There is something for everyone and you don't have to worry about transportation and things like that. The food and activities are tons of fun on a cruise. It is definitely better to do the Cruise than Disney World!!
it is, if your pocket is deep enough. but it bores a hole through your heart just imagining the costs. then it is not.Is Disney World or Disney Cruise worth the extra money?
I went a couple years back and because we were all older it kind of sucked. There are alot of good places to go in Kissimee so try to spend some time at Old Town. Really with your kids being a little younger I'm sure you will all have a blast! The older kid may have more fun at Old Town.

By the way Old Town is kind of like a fair it has some rides, plenty of stores, etc.

I think you've picked a great vacation. Disney is known for "doing it right." The variety of ages in your family is one of the reasons that a Disney vacation and cruise will be a good fit! You'll probably find that at times, your family will split up, so that the older and younger kids can each enjoy the attractions that interest them, but there will be plenty for you to do together too. The same for the cruise: there is tons of stuff for people to do of all ages, and you can do as little or as much as you want.

One of the big advantages of staying onsite at Disney is the time you save on transportation. The Disney buses (to and from the hotels) run constantly, and they drop you right off at the gates to the parks -- whereas the public parking is quite a long ways off, and even the buses from off-site hotels have to park a long ways from the main gates. With the Disney transportation it's easy to go between the Magic Kingdom to EPCOT to the MGM studios, etc., or even to the water parks, and back to your hotel.

The Disney Cruises also have a great reputation. Almost all cruise lines have kids programs, but Disney's kids and teens facilities are head and shoulders above the rest. Your 8 and 9 years olds will have access to the Oceaneer Club, which is just for 8-12 year olds. The 14 and 17 year olds have their own teen lounge area for 13-17 years olds, with music, video games, internet access, etc.

Of course, you can always spend time together on your shore excursions, meals or at the pool. Also -- the staterooms on the Disney cruiseships are larger than most.

If I sound like I'm pro-Disney, I guess I am. I'm a travel agent, so I have lots of opportunities to send families on great vacations -- and almost everyone has a blast on a true, onsite, Disney vacation. I'm also a mother of two kids who are 8 years apart, and we often travel with three generations (my parents, me and my DH, and our kiddos). This is a great vacation -- one I'm sure your family will remember always.

Have a wonderful time!
