Do we need rights to do a Disney musical review at our community theatre?

Our local theatre wants to do a Disney musical review using songs and music from various Disney movies. Do we need to have the rights do to that?Do we need rights to do a Disney musical review at our community theatre?
I'm not completely sure...it depends on the type of things you put in the show. You should have the organizer talk with Disney. I love Disney, but they are MEAN! You definitely have to be careful or they will sue you. Sorry if this isn't much help!Do we need rights to do a Disney musical review at our community theatre?
I doubt it. I saw a choir performance at a school near me, and their concert was more or less a Disney review. It was about 30-40 songs, and the greater part of those were solos and duets.

I think the only time you would have to pay royalties or acquire the rights is if you were doing an ACTUAL Disney musical review, produced for theatre audiences; for example, Disney's On The Record. It was a show that went on tour throughout the country, and it sort of had a storyline, but I always thought of it as a Disney-fied opera, because there was little to no speaking; just Disney songs. THAT is a musical review that Disney produced, so you would probably have to acquire the rights for it.Do we need rights to do a Disney musical review at our community theatre?
Yes. At the very least you need to pay for the rights to sing the songs. In Canada you could enquire through SoCan, I am not sure what the parallel would be in the U.S. But, you should be paying for the rights. Otherwise it is tehcnically stealling.
Unless you wanna get your pants sued off, yeah, you gotta get some rights. Good luck!
