  • Is universal studios or disney world better?

My family is planning a trip to ..well, somewhere... this sept. and it will be 3 adults and 1 child age seven . They can't decide whether to go to Disney world, universal studios, or atlantis in bahamas. Also, they would like to do something in Orlando (like universal or disney) and then just take a plane for the day to atlantis and fly back to orlando that night. is that possible or feasible? which is the best place to go overall. Is universal studios or disney world better?
I think it depends on how long you want to stay. You can do do both Disney and Universal Studios if you are going to be there for more than a day. There are a total of 4 theme parks at Disney (aside from the water parks) and 2 at universal. So, that could be 6 (exhausting) days right there.

As for what's best if they choose just one, that depends on their preferences. It sounds like they are going to be there for more than one day, so it might be best for your group to do a combination of both parks. Some people really love Disney, some people really love Universal. As the previous responders said, most children prefer Disney and most adults prefer Universal, but maybe the people in your group are different? Most people like them both enough to want to be there anyway.

Going to Atlantis is completely different. There are definitely not as many things to do at Atlantis as Disney or Universal Studios. This would be a good choice if they just want to stay at the beach and the pool all day (which a lot of the Disney and Universal Hotels have beautiful pools for people), visit Nassau, or gamble. They can take the plane there for the day, but unless it's a private charter, it will be tough. Aside from having to go to Orlando International Airport at least 2 hours in advance to catch the plane, there is generally only one direct flight to Nassau. It leaves in the afternoon and returns 4 hours after landing in Nassau. The airport in Nassau is quite a distance from Atlantis and you would still have to factor in getting to Nassau airport early to catch the flight back. That would leave you, at most, 1 hour at Atlantis. There are non-direct flights, but then you are looking at connections in Miami and over 3 hours in travel time each way.
    Disney is always better!

If you are ever faced with this decision, Disney will always win, especially if you have a child in your party like you do.

It is common for people to think that Disney is just for little kids, but the truth is, there is something for everyone, no matter what age. Walt Disney made it that way, so that the parents and their children could have a place where they could laugh, learn and play together.

Overall, Disney is better themed, along with that something for everyone. The magic of WDW is something that cannot be replicated anywhere else on the planet (other than maybe another Disney park!) When comparing it to Universal, there is no comparison. My personal experience with Universal is having nothing to do (I was 5), at all! The entire Universal park (excluding Islands of Adventure) is basically just thrill rides, and the 7 year old in your party will be quite board at this park. Islands of Adventure is better, but don't be fooled by the new "Harry Potter" world, as the reviews of it have not really been that great. In my opinion, the poorly themed and thrill rideness of it is just classical Universal.

In the end, the best thing to do is stay at Disney! Go to Disney. There are 22 different resorts at Disney World, for all different price ranges, so I am sure you will find one your family will like, and in your price range too. You will all have a blast, as WDW is the greatest place on earth for a family vacation. Is universal studios or disney world better?
Overall I personally would say Disney World because there are more things to do. Even though I have had the seasonal passes to Universal Studios and went very often, I still like Disney way better. But thats just my opinion. Because you can go to different parks that Disney has, unlike in Universal you only have Universal and Islands of Adventure.
Just a personal opinion here -

    Generally, kids enjoy Disneyworld.

    Adults do prefer Universal Studios.

Atlantis in Bahamas I do not know, but I know about how it is...

I would recommend (maybe) 1 night in hotel in the Bahamas.

Enjoy, no matter what, it is worth it.Is universal studios or disney world better?
I say Disney World. It has a different aura to it. I personally like the rides and attractions better and the food is much tastier. If you like thrill rides, go to Universal. There are some at WDW. I think WDW is overall better.
I enjoy universal studios alot. Islands of Adventure is okay but im not the type person who like roller coasters. That's why I liked Universals, it has more simulator type stuff. I prefer universal studios over disney world.
they are both awesome may I suggest yo do intense research on both since it's my experience you'll need to be a little anal to get the most out of your trip to either. in other words plan plan plan then plan again.
skipper7 says it best - Disney is best for kids, Universal is what adults would enjoy, and Atlantis is lovely but VERY expensive!
I prefer Disney... it's bigger and more to do.

Universal is also going to be a madhouse for the next few months because Harry Potter world opened there.
You sound just like me! I couldn't decide whether or not to go to Walt Disney World of Atlantis for my honeymoon, so we split the trip in half and did both! I've been to Disney 20 times in my life, and Atlantis only once, but this was my general opinion on them.

Atlantis is beautiful - probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. It's also extremely expensive. People think Disney is expensive - it has nothing on Atlantis. Any activities you do, any food you eat, and any room you stay at is going to trump the costs at Disney. Just basic stuff like a bag of chips from the gift shop was crazily priced.

My other gripe with Atlantis is that you can't go to the beach. We went only a few feet from the resort onto the beach %26amp; were immediately approached by drug dealers asking if we wanted to buy/sell drugs. We went right back to the resort. So while you're at Atlantis, plan on not straying from the resort. You really don't need to, it's huge.

Atlantis is wonderful for kids. This was a honeymoon gripe, but I think it would be a plus for you having a 7 year old along. It's an all day water park, with tons of things to do. I couldn't even walk withone kids running into me. For a honeymoon, it wasn't very relaxing that way. But you would have a blast with any child you bring along! The lazy river is the best of it's kind- it's like a roller coaster in water. The water slides through the shark tanks are okay - a little overrated, but fun to do a few times. We spent most of the time in the lazy river, which is anything but lazy! The pools are spectacular, and there's a lot to visit. The Dig is a neat walkthrough that looks like the Lost City of Atlantis. Our favorite thing we did was the Dolphin Encounter. Very expensive but worth it to swim with the dolphins!

If you choose to go the Orlando Route, I would do Disney over Universal. Disney has less high intense thrill rides, and more to do for kids. But there's still plenty to do for adults too. Universal just opened Harry Potter land, and lines are 4-6 hours just to get into the area, and another 2 to get on the ride. It's such a mess there right now! Disney has 4 parks for you to visit - all are child %26amp; adult friendly. Epcot %26amp; The Magic Kingdom are the 2 best parks, but Animal Kingdom is also great for kids. If you skip a park, skip Hollywood Studios. It's only a half a day park, without much to do at all for kids.

It is very possible to go to Atlantis for a day. The flight over was a small plane, and only too 45 minutes! I flew out of Orlando airport into the Bahama airport. It's definitely worth seeing, and they do sell day passes. =-)

What is better for disneyland, parking at disney or ride ART?

We will be staying at Staybridge (1.6 miles from disney). The cost to park at disney is about the same as it is to ride the ART for four of us. What is better? Riding the ART or parking at Disney? What is better for disneyland, parking at disney or ride ART?
Depends how early you get there. Let's say it's 10:00 AM during spring break. If that's the case, take ART. But if you can get up and out of the hotel, take the car. Lines for ART at the end of the day are pretty long. What is better for disneyland, parking at disney or ride ART?
We stayed in Kissamee, which is about 10 miles away and most of the hotels/motels offer shuttles for little or nothing to Disney world, as the parking is not good and very expensive

How much can I expect to spend at Disney World for food?

My family is going to Disney World for four days, how much can we expect to spend total in meals for 2 adults and one 5 year old?How much can I expect to spend at Disney World for food?
Totally depends what you eat and where. Check out the AllEars website in their dining section. They have menus with prices for every restaurant, counter place and many vendor carts on their website. You can gage what you want to eat and where and figure out about how much it will cost. Don't forget about tax %26amp; tip!

    http://allears.net/din/dining.htm
Typically a counter service (like a cafeteria or McDonald's) costs about $9-$12 however the prices can vary. The sit down meals by themselves (for one meal) can cost around thirty dollars (entree, desert, soft drink) alcoholic beverages cost more, and you must also add gratuity. I'm not sure how much it is for a child, but it is less pricey. How much can I expect to spend at Disney World for food?
You should consider the Disney Dining Plans. There are several levels, so you can choose the plan to best suit your needs. Recently, Disney was doing a promotion which allowed special price deals on some of the dining plans - I don't know if it's still going on. Having a dining plan means that you will prepay for your meals at a discounted cost. You'll have your exact food budget done (except for tips and any non-dining-plan food you buy).
Like all theme parks, it is expensive; however, the snack shack types of foods were actually well sized. That means you can share and everyone still feels like they had enough. So the total costs aren't going to be as much as you might think, but the 2x multiplier is probably a good rule of thumb. How much can I expect to spend at Disney World for food?
I just came back and it was myself, my teen and my 10 yr old. We spent 100 per day but had free breakfast at the hotel and ate 1 meal on site and 1 off site. We also got 2 nice souvenirs. Our meal at disney was 33 dollars and the souvenirs were 25 each. A soda is 2.50, a snack is 3.75-6. Best bet is to go to a grocery store and pick up some snacks if possible since they do allow food and drinks.
Whatever you pay at home, multiply that by atleast 2.

  • What are some hotels to stay in at Disney world?

For spring break my friends and I are planning to go to Disney world for maybe 3 or 4 days.. What are some good hotels? Are their any package deals with the parks and Hotel and the plane tickets? And I'm spring break is I. Two weeks from nowWhat are some hotels to stay in at Disney world?
I just booked mine and went through a lot of trouble comparing, booking and cancelling, so I guess I can give you some useful advices.

If you want to book your vacation cheaper to disney world, there is a link under "Tickets and packages", it said "Special Offer", look into it. Usually their package comes with the tickets, hotel and plane tickets. If you're staying in a disney resort, they even have transportation from the airport to Disney world.

I dunno wat you budgets are. Base on my research, the best value hotel is Disney Pop Century Resort. Its Cheap, but you get what you pay for. For moderate Hotels I didnt really look into it. I am staying at a Deluxe. Contemporary Resort is probably the most modern and has the best transportaion. But I'm pretty sure its fully booked. I've heard good things about wilderness lodge. I myself is staying at the animal kingdom lodge because you can get a room with animals walking around from your window, otherwise you can use a moderate hotel price to get into one of those standard rooms with deluxe quality. Of coz, no animals.

If you have to book, remember to only book through the disney world website. I tried to book through a travelling website omg it gives me so much headaches.

If you really want to personalize everything, look into the disney website. Each hotel has its own rating, and you can read people's comments on all of the hotels.

    Good Luck.
Unfortunately, guess what, everybody goes to Disney for spring break. You may not be able to find many hotels that are not full! Particularly since you will be going at Easter time, which is the busiest time of spring break. It's crazy around then!

Yes, you can book the entire package deal with Disney. And you can see this on their website. They have a free vacation planner that you can play around with and plug different dates and options in and see what prices it returns. But like I say, it may be full. Better get on NOW and start looking. What are some hotels to stay in at Disney world?
My family always stays a Pop Century, when we go. Its a Disney hotel so you can take the bus's to the parks and Downtown Disney. Its one of the cheaper hotels at Disney, starting at $85 a night. which is actually a very good price!! You can also get a dinning plan which will cover all your food! sometimes they have special officers if you book your trip early! But I do have to say Pop Century is one of my FAVORITE places to stay at Disney and its the Cheapest!!!!(:
The Disney world wesbite holds lots of great information for all of your questions. But so do these websites!

    http://allears.net

    http://disneyworld.go.com

Just type in "magic your way" in the Disney world websites search box. And you'll find lots of information about packages and stuff.

    As for the hotels-

The one I went to back in 2004 was Port Orleans French Quarter. And I highly recommend it to anybody. It is a moderate resort that is on Disney property. So it's not as expensive as the deluxe resorts but it's not as cheap as the value resorts!

I hope I helped! What are some hotels to stay in at Disney world?
Your best bet is to go to the website disneyworld.com There you can plan out your whole vacation, plane ride and everything, don't worry , you can plan it out for free to see how much it'll cost. And yes, there is package deals, you'll see it as one of the headlines on the website. Enjoy your spring break!=)
well if its only for 3 or 4 days, i would recomend one of the value resorts that disney offers. They are festive and are very affordable.
I guess the search engines do not work on your laptop. There are dozens, if not hundreds of websites to fully answer your questions.
Nothing like planning ahead for Spring Break, eh?

Have you taken an Autistic adult to Disney World? Will the Handicapped pass help?

I have taken my son, when he was younger, to Disney World and requested the handicapped access pass due to his autism. They provided it, and it had the net effect of giving us 'Fast Pass' access to all attractions. Considering his disability, this is the only way that we could do this without a meltdown. I always worry that the policy/practice might change - so am curious about recent experiences particularly with this population.Have you taken an Autistic adult to Disney World? Will the Handicapped pass help?
In order to get a Guest Assistant Pass you may be asked to provide a Doctor's note. It's unfair to people that truly need one, however, like most things people take advantage of it and ruin it for those that need it. So, prior to your departure for Disney, contact your doctor and ask for a note.

When you arrive at Disney head to the Disney Guest Relations desk and ask for the GAP pass.

Also, be forewarned that this is not an automatic skip to the front of the line pass. They will try and get you on quickly, but things have changed.

Here is some information regarding travelling with an Autistic child... http://allears.net/pl/dis_aut.htmHave you taken an Autistic adult to Disney World? Will the Handicapped pass help?
    Hello,

My brother is autistic and every time we go to the parks we use the GAP (Guest Assitance Pass) as well. The policies are basically remained the same, except they have become a little stricter. They didn't give us any problems getting our pass. We just walked into Guest Relations office the first day and said we had someone with austism with us and they handed it over. However, others have had issues in where they wanted to see a doctors note. Just in case, I would bring one but we didn't need ours. Not all the rides and shows have a fast pass entrance but if they don't you can just use the wheelchair entrances.

Good luck and have fun!Have you taken an Autistic adult to Disney World? Will the Handicapped pass help?
I agree with the others. Just bring a doctor's note just in case and you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck, have fun, and say hi to Mickey for me!
hey there. I had my autistic nephew with us last year and taking him again next year. we will be using the handicapped pass, as it was the best way to enjoy the parks with your son. I have to say any of the time we had to hang around with my nephew was tough, it also makes it easier for other people around us as well. we love him dearly and really enjoyed our holiday with him, but i dont think it would have been the same without the pass, as he would not have been able to stand in the lines for long enough to get on the rides. he will enjoy it more as well. if you want any more advice please feel free to send me a message.

but with what the others say definitely bring a doctors note just incase

  • How far is the nearest beach from disney world?

Is there any place someone can recomend that is near Disney and the beach. How far is the nearest beach from disney world?
The most beautiful beach within close distance from Orlando is Playalinda Beach at the Canaveral National Seashore. It's near the Kennedy Space Center and you can actually see the launch pads from the beach. You also have to drive through a nature preserve to get there and are likely to see eagles, alligators, raccoons, wild boar, etc. It's an all natural beach and there are no buildings on it - natural dunes - just beautiful. It's located in Titusville and will take about one hour from Orlando. Worth the drive. I've lived here for 20 years and it's the beach we frequent the most often.
Cocoa Beach is the closest---less than an hour drive. Disney's Blizzard Beach (a water park) is even closer.

:)How far is the nearest beach from disney world?
Cocoa and Daytona are both about 45 minutes away, but goind in oposite directions. Daytona is nicer, more things to do and see.
Disney has there own beach/resort called Disney's Vero Beach Resort, that is two hours away. Also there are other beaches Coca and Daytona, about 45-60 minutes. How far is the nearest beach from disney world?
    60 miles
Hmm....Playalinda Beach sounded pretty nice, but most of the googled links relate to it being a nude beach? Probably not the best option for families.

How do I get my "big break" through Disney?

Okay, I'm only fourteen, about to be fifteen. I'm going to be a freshman on 8-27-07, and I signed up for Theatre Art, so please don't tell me to sign up for that. I just want to know what are the steps to getting to a Disney channel audition, and things like that. Acting is my passion, and I'm an exellent actress, (Seriously). But the only thing is, is that I don't know where or how to start, and if I do act, I want to act for Disney Channel. Can anyone help me out here? How do I get my "big break" through Disney?
    Find an agent.
    I'll post this yet again:

"The Disney Channel" doesn't have auditions. It's not a junior high play. The shows on the Disney Channel have casting people who send out what are called "breakdowns" to registered agents. These are lists of roles that are being cast and the types of actors that are needed. The agents then comb through their clients to see if any of them meet those criteria. If they do, those actors (or the video reels of their previous work) are sent out to read for particular parts. The network doesn't just hold an open audition and hope that people will show up.

You're not going to get seen by anyone at any of the production companies just by contacting them and telling them how much you like their shows. You need to have a legitimate agent who will send you out for jobs, and even then the odds are slim of A) even getting an agent in the first place, B) getting sent out for something, and C) getting sent out for a show on the Disney ChannelHow do I get my "big break" through Disney?
Take acting classes and do NOT expect to get a big break. You are comepeting with actors that have been acting since they were 5, 6, 7 and 8 years old.

Is performing a monologue from a Disney movie acceptable for a college audition?

I have an audition to get into a college theater program where i have to preform 2 monologues. I was thinking of doing John Proctor's "Because it is my name!" monologue from The Crucible and a monologue by Syndrome from Disney's The Incredibles. Is performing a monologue from a Disney movie acceptable for a college audition?
A lot of times in college theatre programs, they're a lot more lax about the actual material you perform; they just want you to perform well and show them what you've got, so to speak.

With that said, I wouldn't recommend doing a monologue from a Disney movie - or any film for that matter.

If you're auditioning for a theatre program, they're going to want to see you doing monologues from plays written for the stage as opposed to those for film. They're two entirely different mediums, and it would be best to cater to a theatrical audience by doing a monologue from a theatrical piece.

I know that in my audition, they legitimately discouraged people from using monologues from film. They asked that we prepare two contrasting theatrical monologues. Generally speaking, they would like to see one classical piece (please, don't do Shakespeare! Very highly discouraged, unless you legitimately have prior training in Shakespearian acting) and one contemporary piece. Or one comedic piece, and one dramatic piece.
Bird Girl has it right - it's a huge risk. The only reason to do it is because you're going to knock it out of the park and be so completely amazing that they''ll appreciate your wit and originality, and know that you chose this monologue because you're at a level where you can flaunt convention. It's a bit like a concert pianist playing a modern pop song and riffing on it in the style of Beethoven. If you're that level, it might be brilliant...

The problem is that you're asking if it's even acceptable on yahoo answers, which implies you don't know what's expected at the auditions.

Question: How many monologues do you have at your fingertips, ready to perform? If it's less than twelve, you're not in the professional class. Stick to doing something expected, as well as you can. If they laugh appreciatively at your "Syndrome", and say "That's very funny - what else have you got?" What are you going to do?

I don't know a working actor with less than a 8 or 9 solid, prepared monologues they could drop into when asked, and a dozen is typical. Is performing a monologue from a Disney movie acceptable for a college audition?
I guess it wouldn't have occurred to you to perform a monologue from the PLAY "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller? I can't imagine why you would want to do a monologue not only from a Disney MOVIE, but from a cartoon to boot. If this was acceptable, I can't imagine it would be a very good theater program. I would suggest you go on the college website and check into audition information for the theatre department. They often have very specific criteria for students to meet. Make sure you read and understand what those are. If the criteria will allow for you to do a monologue from a Disney cartoon, fine. However, you will be going up against some student performing something from William Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams, Lillian Hellman, Edward Albee and things of that nature. How do think you will compare?
I gave never been to a college audition before, but in my opinion, it's not the content of the monologue but how you act it. Now, granted, they'd probably want an unusual dialogue or character, but this problem is addressed well with the character Syndrome. All I can say is that I don't see a problem. Break a leg!Is performing a monologue from a Disney movie acceptable for a college audition?
IDK... but I auditioned at the little theatre around the corner when I was 15 and sang I can go the distance from Herculez and my dialogue was from The 101 dalmations... I did the one where Cruela was all crazy and stuff :P I got the lead... so that MIGHT help :P

but most audioner people want dialogues from Classic movies or from original movies... so Im sure Incredibles is pretty original :)

How can I have a horrible Disney Vacation?

I know everybody has advice on how to have a great Disney Vacation. I am just curious what I can do to make it just an awful vacation. Maybe I can learn from others people mistakes. How can I have a horrible Disney Vacation?
--Go during the week of Christmas day/New Year's Eve.

--Stay OFF Disney property and get an expensive rental car for transportation.

--Sleep in and show up hours after park opening and after the capacity has been reached.

--Don't make any meal reservations. Show up to Cinderella's royal table during peak meal times and b*tch about not being able to get a table.

--Don't bother saving yourself a place to watch the parade prior to the parade beginning. Fully expect that those who have been waiting on Main Street U.S.A. for 40 minutes in the hot sun will be perfectly fine with your attempts to butt-claim the space you're entitled to between them and their families.

--Don't wash your hands for the entire trip. Disney is the biggest tourist destination in the world and offers every strand of virus beyond your wildest dreams. Surely your immune system can defeat the world's most diverse petri dish.

--Don't bother with fast passes. Complain loudly for the entire 90 minute wait.

--Use as much flash photography as possible on all of the animatronic rides so everyone else's experience will be ruined also.
-get sick just before you go (have some personal experience with this lol)
-get to the parks well after they open
-don't make table service restaurant dining reservations
    -wear FLIP FLOPS
    -don't bring a watch
    -go during xmas/new years!!!
-don't pick up a park map/daily schedule when you walk in
-don't have a plan of attack (i just LOVE it when i see families arguing about what ride to do first and wasting time)
-don't go on tomorrowland transit authority peoplemover or carousel of progress or ellen's universe of energy to take a break from all the hustle and bustle.
-leave disney world property to eat lunch and dinner
-only eat a snack while at the parks (unfortunately i have personal experience for this one as well. i nearly fainted but it was too late to get a meal so i sucked it up and went on the last ride of the night and made it through)
-go to the least popular parts of the parks first
-try to get fastpasses starting in the afternoon
    -don't use sunscreen
-bring a huge tote bag with a short handle and that doesn't have a zipper closure.
-go shopping first thing when you get to the parks

i'm sure i could think of a few more lol.

    **edit**
"alidawn" i LOVED yours lol :)How can I have a horrible Disney Vacation?
-Buy cheap tickets from Craigslist or eBay.

-Stay in a cheap off-site hotel with a free shuttle to Disney World.

-Wear brand-new shoes to the parks... A pair that you have never worn before.

    -Use SPF 10 sunscreen.

-Get a park hopper ticket and go to all four parks in one day.

-Go to a table-service restaurant as a walk-up (no reservation).

-Ask a cast member for directions to Disney's new Harry Potter park.

  • Where can I get the best deals on a Disney vacation?

Our family is going to go to Disney World in Orlando Florida this year. Of course, I want to get the best deal possible. Whom should I book the trip through to get the best deal? A travel agent? AAA? Or through the Disney web site?Where can I get the best deals on a Disney vacation?
If you're not going to book the Disney dining plan it is definitely more cost efficient to book everything separately. Try www.mousesavers.com for great tips on getting good discounts.

If you are looking to do the dining plan, which you can only buy by purchasing a magic your way plan, triple A is really not a bad option [my husband, mother in law and I are headed down in September and we were quoted a total of $6426 for 9 nights for a one bedroom villa at the beach club, three 8 day hopper passes with water park and more option as well as 3 Disney deluxe dining plan]

Another tip I have seen in order to be able to book the dining option but not have to buy a lenght of stay ticket is to book the magic your way package but purchase just one day tickets, and book the dining for the lenght of your stay. This way you can hang on to your unused one day ticket and as long as you don't use it, it will not expire and it can be used towards the purchase of a future ticket. You then can proceed to purchase your lenght of stay passes from a cheaper source.Where can I get the best deals on a Disney vacation?
You'll save alot by putting the package together yourself.

Priceline.com and bid for your air, hotel, and rental cars. Don't take their first price or get discouraged once your first few bids are rejected. You'll save a ton this way.

Also, visit www.InsiderWDWDeals.com for an ebook on how to save on Disney tix. Everyone days it can't be done, but I bought the book and saved $345 - no timeshare presentations of funny stuff. I bought them direct from Disney using a special phone number. They offer a money back guarantee. I did it and was thrilled.

There are lots of talent agencies that specifically target people for that genre. A lot of them tour around the country and set up at hotels over the course of a weekend for open try-outs. Most of them appreciate a head shot, and dancing and/or singing experience. You could search for agencies, or call around to the larger hotels in your area and ask if they ever hosts those types of events. I think the fastest way to get a serious audition is to get a talent agent.
Your agent will take care of that for you.How can I audition for Disney Channel?

What rides are suitable for my son at Disney World/Orlando parks?

We are finally making it to Disney!!! We're in the process of buying tickets and trying to figure out what parks to go. What parks would my 14yr old daughter enjoy? Also I have a 7yr old son who is a little timid about getting on rides. Are there rides that he can enjoy at any Disney World parks or Universal Studios. At a whopping 54 inches, he can get on any ride so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What rides are suitable for my son at Disney World/Orlando parks?
For your daughter MGM Studios(I think the name might have been changed, but it has Tower of Terror and the Rockin' Roller Coaster) she would probably like the older kid rides in Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Also there are a few rides in Epcot for older kids and adults.

For your son Magic Kingdom has some calm rides and Animal kingdom rides would probably be okay for him.
ok, we'll start with your daughter. it really depends on what kind of person she is. if she is adventerous, then universal islands of adventure would fit. if she dosent like bigger rides, then disney might fit. remember, you can never be too young for disney.

there are many rides that can fit your 7 year old son. at universal islands of adventure, they have a dr. seuss land with smaller rides that could help him out. but still, the best way to do it is get him on some bigger rides and let him overcome his fears.

good luckWhat rides are suitable for my son at Disney World/Orlando parks?
    for your 14yr old daughter

the best park in disney world is mgm studio

its the best because there is some rides thats breaty cool like:rock n roll coaster

    tower of terror

but for your 7yr old son there is the magic kingdom in disney world

and there are some rides like:space mountain

    splash mountain

    and for Universal studios

the mummy but kinda like a roller coaster but scary

    jaws so cool

    men in black

    shrek 3-D

and there is a new ride

    the simpsons ride

me and my family are going to orlando on month8

enjoy visting disney world and have fun with your family

    and thanx
for the most part, the rides at Disney are pretty mild so your 7 year old should be ok. They have great shows too. Universal may be a bit much for him.

I'd go to the MAgic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom %26amp; Disney's Hollywood Studios.

;O)What rides are suitable for my son at Disney World/Orlando parks?
Stay away from Universal Studios. There are just too many rides that would scare your son. It's really too bad, because they are both awesome parks for thrill seekers.

At Disney, Epcot has alot of mild rides, Adventureland in DisneyWorld is geared for kids.

I feel bad for your daughter. There are so many great thrill rides at Disney and Universal that you will miss out on unless your willing to keep your son off them while you take turns taking your daughter on.

Universal Islands of Adventure is the best amusement park in the country IMHO, and Disney's MGM Studios and the Magic Kingdom are the Disney's best two parks, again, IMHO.

Think about going to SeaWorld too. Great fun for the whole family.

    Have fun !!!!
never neem to universal, but I LOOOVE Disney. First of all, it depends on what kind of rides your daughter likes and what kind of personality she has. If she's big on thrills, disney only has a few thrill rides, two of the biggest ones (Rock 'n Roller Coaster and The Tower of Terror) are in Disney Studios. If she is a big Disney fan, she will most definitely enjoy the magic kingdom. It is a Disney lover's heaven lol. It has so many rides based on the movies. This park is also good for your seven year old also, since most of the rides are just where you go through and look at stuff (not scary or fast or anything.) Epcot is great for everyone. You can pretty much bank on the fact that everyone in your group will love it. The scenery is amazing, the rides are phenomenal (once again, they will probably not be scary for your seven year old since it's only riding through and looking at stuff.) Finally, if your kids are animal fans, they will love Animal Kingdom, especially the realistic safari ride (it actually looks like a real African savannah, with the plants and animals and everything!) It also has some great rides too. So no matter where you go at Disney World, there's a very big chance that everyone will love it.

What college would i want to go to become a concept artist/illustrator for Walt disney world?

i would like to become an imagineer at Walt disney world and design rides, attractions, shows as well as put stories to each one i have read up on some schools but am looking for a more definative answer if anyone of you have gone to any schools for this i would greatly appreciate any information or anyone else who is trying to get into WDI ( walt disney imagineers ) and would like to share any information i would greatly appreciate it.What college would i want to go to become a concept artist/illustrator for Walt disney world?
Disney's Imagineering Department is made up of employees with a wide range of job titles and job responsibilities, and therefore, as you might well imagine a wide variety of educational backgrounds. No one at Imagineering conceptualizes a new attraction, designs it, budgets it, builds it, scripts it, and trains employees to operate it - new attractions grow from the cooperative work of many, many different people that contribute to Disney's multi-million dollar projects.

If you want to study towards the goal of becoming a Disney Imagineer, you need to give some thought to the particular aspects of project design that interest you. Right now, on the Disney career site, there are several openings for positions in Imagineering:

    Here's a couple:

Project architect: Prepares architectural design and construction contract documents, provides administrative and technical direction to in-house architects, as well as outside consultants, monitors progress of work through all phases of design and construction and ensures conformance to code standards. This is a very high level position, which requires an architectural license in either California or Florida AND a minimum of at least 12 years experience as a large scale project director, detailed knowledge of CAD design, and a host of other criteria.

A mechanical engineer associate is engaged in concept design and mock-ups, stress testing and prototype manufacturing. To qualify for this position, you would need at least a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, though the job description suggests that a masters degree is desired.

The are no jobs listed at the moment for cartoonists or animators, but obviously, applicants for those sorts of positions would require a completely different academic background.

It really doesn't matter what college you go to, so long as you go to a university that is respected for the academic rigor of its programs. What's more important is that you engage in a course of study that will prepare you for some specific type of position that you are interested in. But note, however, that Disney Imagineering is rarely an entry level career opportunity - most of the prominent positions at Disney go to well-established, veteran members of their profession, with significant track records of accomplishment for other companies and firms.

You mentioned a specific interest in concept artist/illustrator positions - obviously, you'll need to find a school with a graphic arts program that offers the very latest in technology and skilled faculty.

I wish you the best of luck - it would really be an amazing opportunity to be offered a position as one of Disney's Imagineers. What college would i want to go to become a concept artist/illustrator for Walt disney world?
Wherever you go, I would be sure to do the Disney internship program.

    5. Get an Agent

    Look up LEGIT agencies here:

    http://www.agentassociation.com/

    http://www.sag.org/content/find-agent

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won鈥檛 see you unless you鈥檙e SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:

-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.

-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc.

-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you鈥檙e interested in

    DON鈥橳

-Email them unless they tell you to. IT鈥橲 UNPROFESSIONAL!

-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!

-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!

-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent鈥檚 ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial printHow can i be a Disney channel Actress if i live in florida?
Disney only casts through a few top LA agents - the agency you are with isn't nearly big enough to help you, really. You'd need to live in LA and have been at a top stage school for years to get into Disney.

But if you're a good actor, do aim a bit higher than DIsney - the actors on Disney Channel are all so fake! The acting is exaggerated, unrealistic and it's no wonder that hardly any of the kids who were in Disney never make it as adult actors. Be a real actor, not a plastic clone like Disney seems to produce!

But do try for a better agent - yours doesn't sound like a real one. Proper agents for actors don't often do modelling.

After drawings had been traced and inked and painted onto cels, all the background paintings and cells were photographed by a film camera, probably something like an Oxberry.

An oxberry is a film camera stand that points downward on a table that has peg bars that you place the cels onto. It also has various cranks that you can turn to move the pegs and drawings bit by bit.

A camera operator would have to lay down a background and then the cells on top, take a picture, then change the cells and move some cranks if he had to, then take another picture. After the camera operator was done shooting all the cells, he'd have a film reel with the completed animation that he could play in a film projector.

Donald and Daisy doing the jitterbug, hippos and crocodiles dancing, etc.. This was a very popular between shows 'short' on the Disney Channel in the early to mid 80's.What is the disney music cartoon where black and white Mickey is playing the piano in the bar with scenes of?
The clip was a mash up of several clips from different movies.

Donald and Daisey dance in the 1940 cartoon "Mr. Duck Steps Out"

The crocodiles and hippos dancing comes from the 1940 movie "Fantasia" which featured several cartoons set to famous orchestra songs. The one you are thinking of is "Dance of the Hours"

  • Where can I find a cheap but romantic vacation to disney world?

I want to take my girl to Disney World, but I want it to really romantic and I don't really want to spend like $6,000 on it like on there website.Where can I find a cheap but romantic vacation to disney world?
You really don't have to spend $6,000 dollars on a trip. This is going to get you one of the top resorts and it sounds like you had an expensive package priced. You can go there and stay at a nice moderate resort, with dining and tickets and be well under that price. It just depends on what you are looking for. There are some resorts that would be a little more romantic than others, even if you don't go to a deluxe resort.

If you are really wanting to plan a nice trip, I would try to stay away from Expedia and other discounters. Not only have people arrived Disney to find that there is not a reservation for them, but you are also on your own. So if there is a problem or something it can be really difficult to get it fixed and you may find yourself in a mess. Also, in my experience, expedia has been higher than Disney for the stay. To have the best time, you will want to stay on property, it is so much nicer than being off property. A lot of the discounters don't offer Disney property.

If you don't know a lot about Disney and know how to properly plan your vacation, you will end up spending more than you need to. To plan a very special vacation, I would book the trip thru someone that speciliazes in Disney. I use: http://mousetrips.com/ They are absolutely wonderful and helpful and will help you plan the best vacation. No fees for their services, but lots of knowledge that will be really helpful. If you really want to take a special trip and not spend a ton of money, this is a really good way to go. They will give you some good advice on what to do.

What colleges are close to Walt Disney World?

How did Walt Disney contribute to modern day media and society?

I'm doing a project on how Walt Disney has affected modern day American society. Can you please give examples of how his influence is still seen today?

Thank you very much! How did Walt Disney contribute to modern day media and society?
    CalArts

The statue "Partners" located on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, Disney World, Florida.

In his later years, Disney devoted substantial time towards funding The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). It was formed in 1961 through a merger of the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music and the Chouinard Art Institute, which had helped in the training of the animation staff during the 1930s. When Disney died, one-fourth of his estate went towards CalArts, which helped in building its campus. In his will, Disney paved the way for creation of several charitable trusts which included one for the California Institute of the Arts and other for the Disney Foundation.[76] He also donated 38 acres (Template:Convert/sqmi km虏) of the Golden Oaks ranch in Valencia for the school to be built on. CalArts moved onto the Valencia campus in 1971.

What is the least crowded days of the week for each Walt Disney park?

I was looking at the WDW calendar for Dec and Jan and noticed that they are not open later on the weekends. Even some weekends they close earlier than weekdays. I frequent Disneyland and they are always open later on the weekends. And Fri, Sat, and Sun. are always more crowded than the rest of the week. Is this the case for Walt Disney World? I am just puzzled as to why they are not open later on the weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun). I was planning to go to hang around the hotel and go to Downtown Disney on the day of the week I thought the parks would be more crowded but now I'm not sure what day that would be?What is the least crowded days of the week for each Walt Disney park?
Check out Disney's website, where they post Extra Magic Hours for the resort guests. The day after a park has Extra Magic Hours is usually a good day to go. Jan is definitely one of the best months to go, because it is lower crowds. But when there are lower crowds, there are shorter hours. Dec I don't know, that's really weird. What is the least crowded days of the week for each Walt Disney park?
tues and weds. What is the least crowded days of the week for each Walt Disney park?
Least crowed days are monday but its still crowded
Yes,Tues. and Wed. Because most people who work take Monday off for a 3 day weekend or Friday off for a 3 day weekend, and not Thursday because alot of teenagers apparently go out on Thursday nights. I have no clue why. So Tuesday and Wednesday are your best bet. Good luck!

The "Disney Cruise" moves bcz it has propellers at the back of it which r driven by 1 or 2 engs depending on the size of Ship. The engs r of 27000 BHP..That's a huge power...Consider 50 18 wheeler trucks pushed by 1 engine. If u see movie Titanic or Speed 2 Cruise control u will understand........How does Disney Cruise move? All the crew and guests are issued large, long paddles and when they want to go, they stick them out the portholes and row.

How to convince my wife not to go to Disney Land?

We found a cheap flight to LA and she wants to go to Disney Land. I don't want to waste my money or time. How do I convince her we're not going? How to convince my wife not to go to Disney Land?
Why would you come to LA and not go to Disneyland...?
If she wants to go to Disneyland and you have never been before, you should definitely go. There are rides at both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure that will convince you that Disneyland is not just for kids. If you have been in the past, then just say "we've already been", but if this is like a once in a lifetime opportunity, then you should definitely take advantage of it.

Excuses that you could use to convince her not to go: cost, crowds, hot weather, earthquakes, etc.How to convince my wife not to go to Disney Land?
Disneyland is fun, but if you really wish to not go it has a lot of excuses:

    1. Way too crowded. To clarify, bring up the point of spring break right now. Kids are going to Disneyland like crazy!

    2. Too expensive. For just spending money alone there you need about $200, not even adding ticket price!

    3. Hot. I live in California myself, and right now it is really starting to get sweaty.

    4. Boring. No thrill rides.

    Hope this helps!
disneyland is awesome. don't be a downer. it's not a waste of time...the money, kind of but it's worth it.

however here are some joy kill excuses:

    -too hot

    -overcrowded

    -expensive

    -waste of money

    -waste of time

or you can just say you don't want to go.How to convince my wife not to go to Disney Land?
Crowds are bad, expensive, hot at this time of year, too many kids rides and a lack of thrilling rides... I personally love Disney Land but these excuses are some good ones if you really do not want to go.
Why wouldn't you want to go? It isn't all just for kids. It's better than it sounds.
say that its too crowed this time of the year
you'll have fun and if you love her you'll go with her
go to disneyland! wtf is wrong with you?!!

How old do you think that kids can watch Disney's Sleeping Beauty, and not be scared by it?

Since Disney is going to be re-releasing Sleeping Beauty on dvd again next month, 5 years since it made its dvd debut. I am asking you, and I hope to even get answers from parents, how old do you think kids can watch Sleeping Beauty and not be scared by it. And there are things that are in the movie that will frighten young children. And also please tell me why, you think that is how old a kid can watch Sleeping Beauty, and not be scared by it?How old do you think that kids can watch Disney's Sleeping Beauty, and not be scared by it?
I slightly remember parts of the show but none of seemed too scary, I was about 4 or 5 maby when I watched it and was not frightened even though if the smallest thing related to scary would make me cry normally.

I would say anything above 5 should be ok.How old do you think that kids can watch Disney's Sleeping Beauty, and not be scared by it?
Well, i was personally 7 when i first watched it. and it happens to be my favorite princess movie^-^

Where in disney world would i hear the song Dancin a catchy rhythm?

my sister says she remembers this song from being in disneyworld. shes only been once ive been loads of times and dont remember it.

it goes: hey there, hi there, ho there its a disney kind of day

where in disneyworld would i hear it?Where in disney world would i hear the song Dancin a catchy rhythm?
I have heard it, a few times, when the Disney Characters ride through Future World at EPCOT on their double decker bus. It was within an hour or so of EPCOT's opening for the day. The Fab 5 and others were heading up towards the front of the park for photo ops.

I have heard that it was a part of pre-parade entertainment several years ago. I have the song on my ipod %26amp; listen to it just about everyday at work.Where in disney world would i hear the song Dancin a catchy rhythm?

What time of the day should I arrive at Disney World?

Hi guys! I am going to Disney World in Orlando August the 18th.

What time should I arrive at the gates? I want to be there right when it opens, but would it be better to arrive 30-45 minutes before they open, so I can get in the line early? What time of the day should I arrive at Disney World?
    I would advise:

    1. Arrive in the parking lot about an hour before the official opening time.

    2. If it is an Extra Magic Hour park that day - then think about choosing a different park!

    3. Plan ahead and know which ride you want to head to first. Pick the most popular ride. If you can pick up a Fast Pass on the way then that is even better.

Check www.disneyworld.com for opening times and to see if it is an early Extra Magic Hour day at that park!
Well I live near disney and i go there alot so i would say yes but i usually go a hour before because the trams from the ticket center to a theme park take about 30 min. What time of the day should I arrive at Disney World?
The best time is as early in the morning when they open. With Epcot, if you are there when they open, head for the countries and then by the time you have visited them, furture world will be open and then you will have time to visit that area on your way out. Besides, it is cooler in the morning and less of a crowd and better parking
It depends. Are you staying on the resort? If so you can go to the parks an hour before or stay up to 3 hours later after the park closes. Depends on the park. You have to check the schedules. Otherwise I would arrive about an hour early. Staying on the resort is great there are many other perks. Just go to waltdisneyworld.com and check it out. What time of the day should I arrive at Disney World?
Don't waste your time in line buying tickets. If you live near a Disney Store, now you can buy disneyworld tickets there and go straight to the gate on the 18th. Make sure though by visiting the website or going the the disney store. It should be next to the register. They look like gift cards.
well I usually get there when the park opens. I head all the way down to the back of the park and hit the rides back there and make my way up through the park. Since when every on arrives they usually do the front of the park so i head down to back where i can get in line quick . I believe Magic Kingdom opens up around 9 or 10.
If you arrive before they open you will be one of the first in, but there will be hundreds of people waiting. We always arrive at opening and more often than not leave as the last park is closing, it is simple hard to get enough. Have a blast
If you want to be one of the first ones there yes get in line about 30 minutes early. Go straight for the busiest rides first the lines will not be as long. EPCOT only opens future world at first and then opens the countries at 11:00pm. If the monorail to the MAgic Kingdom has a long line hop on the resort monorail you will have to stop at afew resorts first before getting to the magic kingdom exit but atleast you dont have to wait in extremely long lines.
Most of the parks open at 9:00 am so get there at 8:30am.
When it open are soon after

If you are staying in Disney, take advantage, of extra hours
    Just before the park opens.
12:00 in the afternoon that way so you can get all the speedpast tickets.
