Becoming a Disney Imagineer would be a dream come true for me. Ever since I set foot in Disneyland, I knew that this is what I was meant to do: design, create, etc the latest and greatest Disney theme park attractions. I'm a freshman in high school, and I'd like to be the knid of person at Imagineering that draws the concept drawings that would be referred to (what Marc Davis, my favorite Imagineer, use to do). I would also like to know-
What to study and major in.
What colleges to go to (I was thinking California Institute of Arts... any better ideas?)
What to major in at college.
How to ensure a job there.
How to become familiar with the company (such as internships, etc.)
And what the Disney company is looking for in job applicants.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me. I really feel this is what I was destined to become, and I don't have a fall-back! haha Thanks for any help! How do you become a Disney Imagineer?
Be the best at what you do, create an amazing portfolio, be good to everyone you work with, get as many opportunities as you can to design, create, etc. Be the best of the best! How do you become a Disney Imagineer?
Experience is what you should be planning to have when you apply. I know several people who had experience with the company and did internships and they still didn't get accepted for the job of Imagineering. I heard it's really tough to get in.
Depending on what area of Imagineering you want to be in, you should get a degree either Engineering or Art.
Sign up for the Disney College Program and apply for an internship (even those are hard to get into). Those are the things that will get you noticed. Also, experience with another company, for say a construction or architect design company and work for them for 3 or 4 years. How do you become a Disney Imagineer?
Study Engineering at MIT or some other well-respected tech college. Get an internership with disney and work your way up through the ranks.
