The crocodiles and hippos dancing comes from the 1940 movie "Fantasia" which featured several cartoons set to famous orchestra songs. The one you are thinking of is "Dance of the Hours"

I couldn't really find any of those promos on youtube. I remember them from when I was a kid as well.
