How do you get a fast pass in Walt Disney World?

Do you ask for one when you enter the park or is there a machine where you get them. Do they cost money? ( first time going, advice from a friend ) Any other helpful advice for going to Walt Disney world during Christmas? How do you get a fast pass in Walt Disney World?
fastpasses are free. you get them when you get up to some of the more popular rides. you use your park ticket or hotel card (also your hotel room card) and enter it into the machine. it gives you your fastpass to that ride with a specified time. (like 2-3 or something) then you go around the park and kill some time (not hard). when it is time you go back to your ride. you show a cast member your fastpass and you get on the fastpass line. dont put away your ticket though, because they check it to make sure your not cheating the line. So you end up saving 15-30 minutes if you got a fastpass on a packed ride.

Fastpasses are available for FREE in machines marked "Fastpass" throughout the park. You pop your park ticket in, and they come right out! Above the Fastpass station is a lit up title saying what time the Fastpass is good for. You come back during that time (it's a 1-hour period, so don't worry about being late) and head onto the ride with little to no wait! (NOTE: Not all rides have Fastpasses!)

Also, if you're going during Christmas, here are a few tips.

1) Be prepared for crowds. I went during the first week of December, and although it was Value season, it was still VERY crowded!

2) Crowds=waiting for things + hard-to-get reservations.

3) See the sights! WDW does so many Christmas-related things, and you'll want to see as many as possible. For example, my personal favorite is the Osbourne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, whereas younger kids might prefer Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the shows that go with it.

Have fun, and good luck!

fastpass is FREE. its only available for the more popular rides. there are machines in front of each ride that has it. you just walk up to the machine and put your park ticket in and it will give you back your park ticket along with a slip of paper that has a time frame on it (ex: 3pm-4pm). you then do other things until your time frame comes up and then you head back to that ride and show your fastpass to the cast member standing at the entrance to the line. they will direct you to the fastpass line. keep your fastpass handy cuz they will collect it from you further up in the line (this is to make sure that people are not cheating and just hoping into the fastpass line from the regular line). it really does cut down on the time you wait in line cuz you can expect to wait between 0-15 minutes where as if you didn't have one you would most likely wait longer depending on the day you go and the time of day you get in line for a particular ride.

the only catch is you can't just go around and get a bunch of fastpasses and then go back around and use them all. once you get one you must wait until that time frame comes up to get another one (if your time frame is going to be a long time from the time you got it there will be a time printed on the fastpass that tells you when you are allowed to get another one. they do this to be fair so everyone has an opportunity to get more than one fastpass in a day).
Fast passes are free, but only available for the most popular rides. At every ride, there are machines, where, after putting in your ticket, you get a fast pass. It lets you by pass the stand by line, so shorter waits. Fast passes are only available for certain times, and if they run out, no more for that day.
FOR EXAMPLE - You can get there at 11am, but due to people getting there before you, the fast pass is for 3:50pm. Do you know what I'm saying?
And you can't get another fast pass until after the time on your 1st one has gone by.
FOR EXAMPLE AGAIN - If you get a fast pass for one ride for 4:55, you can't get another one until after 4:50. Keep in mind there is a time block you can use the fast pass in. As said before, it can be for 3:50, but if you don't use it within the next hour, until 4:55, you fast pass will expire and be worthless.
Does that make sense?
As for going at christmas, there are a lot of fun things going on, but prepare for lots of crowds. How do you get a fast pass in Walt Disney World?
there is a machine by the ride with a time to which you pass will allow your ride return. you are generally allowed to have only 2 for the same./similar time.

when you go - be patient

before you pack - check the weather as december is tricky - sometimes warm %26amp; sunny others cold and rainy!

leave room in your suitcase for "new purchases"

take a ziploc baggie for your phone and camera in case of rain/.water rides :)
Use everyone tickets for fast pass

If you are going with people that will not ride the rides, use their tickets, this way you can go on the ride, get off and get on line for a second trip
theres a machine. Its free. you use your ticket. you can get Fast Passes as many times as you want if you dont want to get in loong lines.
Is this a real question or totally unsubtle advertising?
