If you are going to visit Disney World, what would you let them choose? 1 thing? 4 things? Would you say you can have this number of items or price point? How much would you be willing to spend on each kid? What about the other things they want to buy? Do they have to use their own money? What do you buy your kids at Disney World as souvenirs?
Well as a child my parents took me to disney and knew the souvenirs would be outrageously priced so before the trip my mom took us to the disney store by our house and bought me and my sister cute disney outfits and a stuffed animal. That way we wouldnt ask too much at disney and we could spend more money on events. She says it worked great and we all had a great time.
It's best to give each child a dollar amount and let them know that once they spend that amount that's all they get. That's what my parents did when I was a child and it worked out really well. Deciding on the limit is really up to your budget.
The only thing I would add on top of that set limit is an autograph book. Kids love to meet and greet the characters and they'll love to collect autographs. They're pretty inexpensive, especially if you buy them outside of the park and it will hold many memories of meeting their favorite Disney characters. What do you buy your kids at Disney World as souvenirs?
me personally? we take photographs to be "souvenirs" . we never do the gift shop thing at tourist destinations. the kids never clamor for it, either. to me, the point is the experience. and while we buy plenty of gifts for birthdays and christmas, and plenty of books year-round, we rarely buy toys "just because." [in fairness, that is partly because the grandparents often go overboard doing that already] the only thing we really get like that is for collections: each of my kids recently started collecting figurines of a particular animal, so usually once per vacation we'll look to find one new thing for their collection.
but of course if my kids at some point wanted to use their own money to buy something someplace like that, they're welcome to. to me, that's the point of having their own money: they can spend it as frivolously as they want on whatever they want.
I'd give them a limit. (Say about 20?) And then a couple dollars in quarters and some pennys. They have those nifty things there where you smush the penny (i collect them!) and i still have some of those from disney world from like 8 years ago :) enjoy! What do you buy your kids at Disney World as souvenirs?
My parents always gave me about 30 ish dollars to spend on vacation. I can get one souveneir, and maybe a shirt or autograph book. If some ride or place had a theme i loved (wizarding world of harry potter) I would bring more money to splurge.
Personally, I have found that the Embroidered Mouse Ears from a shop on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom make for life-long souveniers and are very durable.
I would never take my child to Disney World without having some extra cash for him to purchase things he wants. My son is only 23 months old but next year when we take him to Disneyland I plan to at least give him $100 (gift shops are expensive) to spend on whatever he wants.
