How much money should I save for Disney World?

My husband and I want to take our two children ages 5 and 4 to Disney World in the summer. We live in Texas and will fly. How much money should we save in order to have a great time without being too extravagant? How much money should I save for Disney World?
I would save at least 3000. My husband, my two kids and I are going in early December and it was 1800 dollars for the tickets and room. We booked a room at the Port Orleans which is a moderate resort on the property and we got a 5 park hopper ticket for our 8 day trip. If we had bought the meal plan for our 8 day trip it would be 39 dollars a day per adult and 11 dollars a day per child. I also suggest bringing extra money if you plan on buying souvenirs because the Disney merchandise is pretty pricey in the park. If you plan on buying flight tickets I would research now and buy as soon as possible. Remember the sooner you buy the tickets the cheaper they will be. Best of luck and I would check out this web page for more info on tickets and resorts. Have fun!

It would depend on how long you guys are going for... Disney had packages that are pretty affordable for a family of four.

Thats staying on property which is nice since you will have small kids with you you can head back to your hotel when its time for a nap or for a afternoon swim to cool off according to the commercial for 6night/7 day stay is around $1600 and i think that has a dining plan not bad For a 4 day/1 park pass adults are $225.78 and 3-9 is $189.57 by themselves so that package is pretty worth it i think. with air and everything i would probably say you should save at least $5000 that should be enough for a great vacationHow much money should I save for Disney World?

It depends on where you stay and for how long. I would estimate between $3000 and $5000.
We flew from Houston to Disney World last November, stayed 7 nights in a value resort with the dinning plan and park hopper passes. Two adults and two children. We purchased our flight tickets six months ahead of time and the same for the Disney tickets.

The total for the trip was $3,867.47.

We are driving this March, two adults one child. We are staying in a value resort for five nights with dinning and park hopper tickets. The total is $ 2, 226.00

Five years ago we flew, stayed in a Moderate price resort. We went in April, 7 night, park hopper passes, water park option, and dinning plan. We again flew out of Houston and the total of that trip was $5,187.97

I hope this information helps. You can go to www.waltdisneyworld.com and price out the trip you desire. As always the further ahead you book the more likely you will get what you want, and airline tickets are more reasonable. If you do plan ahead you can make payments to Disney over the Internet. Choose you meals and book ahead, at your children's ages they will love the character dinning and there are many to choose from.

Hope you go and have a Grand time.
i would say that the first thing that you can do to save money is NOT to go to a Disney resort rather go to nice affordable hotel (you can find very nice ones online) you can save 100-200 dollars a night they all have shuttles to the parks.

you don't have to buy hoppers every day because you can spend the whole day at a park. you can take along food to the parks. (a glass of coke is 7 bucks)

if you are there for about a week 2000-2500
It depends on where you want to save some money, look at travel sites for flights, many also have hotel specials also. Last year I was on the Travelocity site and saved 10% on Disney tickets but that was a limited special. But also depends on how long your stay is and other activities you want to fit in. Expect to pay in the $3000 to $5000 depending how long and where you are staying. Check out your library or book store for other Disney saving ideas, or check mousesavers.com and allears.com for Disney specials. Hope this helps.
First, find out an average price for flights. Then decide how nice a hotel you want to stay at and whether you want to stay on property or off. Staying off property can be cheaper, but there are some definite advantages to staying on property, like:

free transportation from airport to hotel and back

free, continuously running shuttle service from hotel to parks

resort guests get early entrance or after hours time in the parks

opportunity to purchase disney dining plan (good eats, little $)

You can get prices for hotels on orbitz or the WDW website.

Once you've decided on an approximate level of hotel, determine how many days you need tickets. One of the cool things about Disney tickets is that the longer you stay the cheaper the tickets are per day. For example, a one day adult ticket is $71, but a 4 day ticket is $212 ($53/day) and a 9 day ticket is $223 ($25/day). It makes more sense to stay longer if you can, b/c you get more bang for your buck.

The last major expense is food. You could travel offsite to eat, but you would waste a lot of time that way and may need to rent a car. You could bring food with you into the parks but then you need to lug it around and you'll need a cooler or fridge in your rooms. My favorite way to eat at WDW is to buy the dining plan. It costs $11/day for children and $39/day for adults. Included is one snack item, one counter service (fast food) meal and one sit down dinner in a full service restaurant per day. We brought pop tarts, granola bars and raisens to eat for breakfast in the rooms, so we didn't need to buy any food outside of the dining plan.

So, your best bet is to figure out what kind of vacation you're looking for, so you know about how much to save. Depending on what you choose, a trip to disney can be relatively cheap or extremely pricey. We spend about $3500 (including airfare) for a family of three to go for 9 days and stay at a moderate WDW resort.
There is a great deal of inaccurate information here, so I'll quickly correct some things. Your kids are not too young to enjoy Disney World, and lines need not be long if you go at a slow time of the year and/or have a good touring plan. Going to Disney World needn't be overly expensive if you do your research. And staying on-site can easily be a better value than staying off-site (especially considering the value of time and convenience).

This is really a question that is difficult for other people to answer because there are various factors to be considered, including how long you want to stay and what you would and wouldn't find suitable. My advice is to contact an online travel agency specializing in Disney travel and price different packages (length of stay, time of year, resort category, etc.). Such agencies can save you a great deal of money, as they will keep an eye out for discount codes and automatically apply them to your reservation. Two agencies which have good reputations and specialize in Disney travel are Dreams Unlimited and Small World Vacations.

If I can offer some additional advice, it would be to not go in the summer. The summer will be hot, crowded with long lines, and expensive (because this is the time of the year that most families go). Ideally, go during the school year; it may be a bit inconvenient, but these are the times of the year that Disney World will be much less crowded and expensive.

If money is tight (or even if it isn't), I'd recommend checking out MouseSavers.com; you'll find a mountain of money-saving information there, and it is a completely free site.

NOTE: I have no associations or affiliations with any of the sites I've mentioned, nor do I profit from them in any way.
The average family of 4 spends around $5000 on a week long vacation in Orlando. Tickets to the parks are getting pricey. Shop around for lodgings.

Summer will be hot and crowded. February is a great month. Hotels are less, crowds are minimal, weather is cooler. You might get a great deal through a travel agency. They can set you up with air, lodgings, tickets for parks.

4 %26amp; 5 is young. Their rides will have very long lines. I would wait another 3 years. 7 and 8 would be better as they will be able to ride more rides and get around under their own power. Just my observations over the years. As a note, the first time I went to Disney World was for my 11th birthday, one year after it opened. I lived in St. Petersburg. I have been at least 10 times over the years. My wife and I go down in 2 weeks.
Come up with a number that is within your budget...then multiply it by 5. That's how much you need to save.
DONT save any money for Disney World..they have enough of their own money...lol ???
