I have been to Disney World several times and have stayed on disney property on most of the trips. I am in the process of planning a trip to Disneyland and would like for someone to compare the 3 disneyland properties to the hotels at disney world.
I think the Grand Californian looks like a mixture between Grand Floridian and Winderness Lodge. But what about the other two Disneyland hotels.
Please don't go into great lengths of describing each one in particular because I have read several reviews and looked at several pictures. But I am really looking for a comparison.Compare Disneyland hotels to the Disney World hotels?
You're on the right track with Disney's Grand Californian. It's very much like the Wilderness Lodge. It's the most expensive hotel on property and it features a couple really good restaurants (Napa Rose and Storytellers). It also has it's own entrance to Disney's California Adventure which is a huge plus.
I love the Disneyland Hotel. It's original and classic, but has also been refurbed recently. I guess to compare it to a WDW resort, it'd be comparable to the Contemporary. It's right on the edge of Downtown Disney and not a bad walk to the two theme parks.
Paradise Pier is my least favorite of the three. It'd probably be comparable to any number of WDW's Moderate Resorts like Caribbean Beach Club or Coronado Springs. Comparable in quality but not in themeing of course. The Disneyland Resort is pretty compact, so even Paradise Pier is pretty close to everything.
You really can't go wrong with any of the three DLR hotels, but if your budget allows, go with either GC or DLH.
